I first learned to knit when I was an exchange student in Germany during high school.  These days my knitting is limited to small quilt squares I create during long faculty meetings, but I still have an interest in it.  So when I saw an article about Cornell team who has found a way to simulate knitting to create realistic garments for avatars I was thrilled.  They experimented with their technique using patterns out of knitting books, produced a really cute sweater for a sheep, and discussed what circumstances would cause the equivalent of a dropped stitch.  This is my favorite computing article of the summer by a long shot!
